Soft drinks; Procan-BMS helps you saving lots of costly syrup..!

Financial Benefits due to Syrup Saving

Behavior of the Mixing Process

Normally the adjustments of a mixing process are slightly higher than the optimum needed. This to ensure that no 'out-of-spec' product will reach the filler. This cautious approach must be taken because the behavior and deviations of the concentration at the point of mixing are unkown. There are a number of reasons that during the production the output of a mixer (also mixers of the latest state of art) does not bring the concentration level as required.

What can the Procan Beverage Monitor do?

When the trend of the mixing process is measured and displayed the technicians are able to optimize the mixing process with result that deviations in concentration are minimized. (i.e. increasing the Cpk-Value of the mixer) Now the average of the concentration can be set lower, more closer to the default value. Now you are starting to save costly syrup!

Benefits Calculation

Let 's say you are able to adjust your mixer 0,05 oBx closer to the default value of the soft drink. (in practise you will learn that the new setting can be up to 0,5 oBx closer to the required concentration). The calculation will follow the next production parameter:

  • Your syrup is 50 oBx
  • default concentration 10,05 oBx
  • your production quantity is 30.000 l/h => default mixing ratio 1:4,975
  • decreasing the default concentration to 10.00 oBx gives a new ration 1:5,000
  • production water needed; 25.000 l/h
  • syrup needed; 5000 l/h

The lowered average concentration (0,05 oBx) of the soft drink brings a reduction of approx. 0,5% of the use of syrup.  => 0,005 * 5000 l = 25 l/h

We calculate with the following parameter:

  • syrup cost price of € 1,50
  • 16 hour production run
  • 40 production weeks with 5 production days

 yearly benefit: 25 * 1,50 * 16 * 40 * 5 =  € 120.000,00 / year
